Why Study Hotel Management in Cyprus?

That's a question that hardly needs to be asked! 340 days of sunshine a year...azure seas which lap the shores...mile upon mile of sun-kissed beaches.. It's no surprise that Cyprus is often described as "paradise on earth" and as a consequence it's a regular holiday destination for visitors from all over the world - and they need places to stay...

Our courses here at MKC City College aim to provide as varied a slice of the hospitality business as possible. So not only do you get to study your chosen subject in the classroom but you'll also have the opportunity to practice those skills you've acquired on the job via our placement schemes and earn some pocket money.

Cyprus can give you experience in all kinds of lodging establishments, from a modest family-run guest house to the full blown 5* luxury resort and you can even try out a typical Cypriot way of life with the agro tourism project - all are available in the Larnaca area.
We have links with the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) and the Hotel & Catering International Management Association (HCIMA) in the UK. Our students have participated in their events.
We also have firm connections with Eurotoques and with Cyprus' accession to the EU there will be an increasing dialogue with their organization.

Course information
Hotel Management is a two year course plus an optional foundation year that covers all aspects of hotel management. The course fulfills the needs of working in a hotel as an assistant manager or even as a Hotel manager.

The course is designed to provide all the knowledge of how a hotel operates and also the foundation of skills required to work in a hotel.

Objectives:
  • To achieve excellent skills in the administration of a hotel.
  • To develop knowledge and understanding that hotel personnel must monitor their progress.
  • To understand in depth the importance of some form of measurement such as a period of time or a level of quality, quantity, or cost.
  • To understand the different kinds of services that the customer needs.
  • To communicate with the customer in the best manner.

The syllabus for the first year offers:

AS 104/204 Food & beverage cost control
AS 105/205 Principles of  hospitality accounting 
AS 106/206 Marketing for hospitality management
AS 107/207 Economics for the hotel industry
AS 108/208 Principles of management
AS 109/209 Introduction to hospitality industry
