It provides opportunities for young people to experience learning mobility in Europe and beyond and for youth workers to develop their interpersonal skills and improve their employment prospects through training and networking opportunities in Europe and beyond.
INTERNATIONAL STUDY OFFICE (ISOF)
The European and international Student mobility is supported by the International Study Office (ISOF) that coordinates study abroad for those students choosing to study either 1 or 2 semesters abroad. The structure of the International Study Office is composed of 3 Persons representing and different level of management; There is a coordinator and his assistant.There is also a secretary mainly acting as a communicative role.Applications are taken in order of receipt by the International Study Office. The International Study Office verifies documents and manage practical aspects of a student’s enrolment at MKC CityCollege, including provision of accommodation as required, issuing ID cards and providing a general induction to MKC City College.
There are 2 committees in charge of the completion/approval of inter-institutional and learning agreements;The Academic Office and the ISOF. All proposed agreements are reviewed by the International Study Office and Academic Committee in the first instance to ensure they are consistent with institutional objectives and can be effectively resourced. There is a process of reviewing the nature of the agreement,status of partner institution,financial information,compliance with the institutional objectives or legal considerations. The final preparation of Learning agreements includes home/host institutions and the students. Steps followed for mobility preparations: a) Send invitation letter and provide a list with the courses offered in the upcoming semester b) Provide assistance, outline all necessary documents such as Teaching Program for the staff c) Review and verify all necessary documents mentioned above d) Verify all of the above documents once the staff/students are in Cyprus
Equal academic treatment and services are provided to all students. Mentoring arrangements depend on the type of placement chosen by the student. The Coordinator makes sure that:
1) Outgoing staff and students are well-prepared for the mobility, are well-informed about their rights and obligations;
2) Students are provided with health and travel advice before leaving, and health or disability needs considered when approving the placement.
3) Incoming staff and students are welcome and given an oriented tour by relevant office
4) Incoming staff are treated with respect
5) Incoming students are given assistance in finding accommodation
6) Incoming students are assisted in integrating into the institution's daily life. English lessons offered
A separate certificate is issued to all mobility participants by listing all accepted activities including achievements after the satisfactory completion of the program.Diploma supplement Transcripts of the students studying abroad with analysis of the credits and marking scale is provided to the students' home university through the participants themselves. When returning from the mobility the Coordinator will transfer all credits earned abroad according to the learning agreement with foreign host structure certified (Transcript of Records) in the student’s individual career book, identifying, with their original titles, the training units to which the credits refer to.
All our courses certifications and qualifications are based on internationally recognized skills and knowledge as a part of our higher educational institution and collaborations with universities and professional associations.
The participation of the students in the European and International programs is noted officially in their degree transcripts. A corresponding recognition to staff participating in the international exchange program is presented as a participation in joint delivery programmes of the staff. Of course all proposals for international cooperation must be reviewed in advance, regardless of their budgets. However and in addition to the above, Academic staff is challenged to take part in the international programs as an opportunity of experience exchange in the multi-culture academic context.
